Range of Experience | Gaye McKay is an Environmental Scientist, with 25 years’ experience working for both regulatory authorities and the private sector. She has extensive experience in flood risk management, catchment management and sustainable drainage. She was formerly the co-ordinator of the UK SuDS monitoring project and assisted in the development of several SEPA guidance documents on SUDS. In addition, she was co-author of the CIRIA publication, Planning for SUDS: Making it Happen. She was also responsible for reporting the findings of the public consultation document ‘The Future of Flood Risk Management in Scotland’ to the Scottish Government. The consultation paper presented recommendations for new flooding legislation, which the Scottish Government believed would enable Scotland to take a sustainable approach to flood risk management. She provided specialist knowledge of flood risk management and arranged consultee workshops, to allow stakeholders to discuss the draft provisions. Gaye has been appointed as an expert witness, prepared reports and has provided evidence in court. She has significant experience in preparing site specific/ strategic flood risk assessments and surface water management studies. Her roles with the Glasgow City Council and Environment Agency involved reviewing planning applications, ensuring that proposed developments are in accordance with the requirements of national and local planning policy. |
